Presentation Descriptions:

We're Not In Kansas Anymore - For years estate planners have focused on estate taxes as the driving factor for their clients’ estate planning.  With the advent of modern estate tax reform, planners need to adapt to the changing climate and focus on other areas of concern to their clients, namely family asset protection planning.  In doing so, planners will find deeper, more meaningful connections with their clients and will engage in better, more holistic planning.  This program will cover essential asset protection techniques used by estate planning attorneys, geared toward that financial advisor.

Takeaways from this program include –

  1. A review of the current climate of estate taxation
  2. Understand the importance of asset protection planning for one’s clients
  3. Understand the basic mechanics of three essential asset protection strategies, Inheritance Protection Trusts, Stand Alone Retirement Trusts, and Long Term Care Asset Protection Trusts.

Learning, Coping, and Surviving as an Alzheimer’s Caregiver - Author and former Wisconsin Gov. Martin J. Schreiber shares lessons from his decade-plus journey as a caregiver for his wife, Elaine, who lives with Alzheimer's disease. Gov. Schreiber candidly describes his challenges and missteps, and highlights how compassion and humor provide comfort to both caregiver and the person with dementia. He also highlights how Alzheimer’s takes a financial toll on families, the healthcare system and the overall economy.

By the end of Gov. Martin J. Schreiber’s presentation, attendees will:

  1. Appreciate the perspectives of a long-term Alzheimer’s caregiver;
  2. Better understand the disease’s financial impact on families, the healthcare system and the overall economy;
  3. Recognize that Alzheimer’s caregivers need practical and emotional support from family members, friends, neighbors, co-workers, and employers.

The Busiest Intersection in the World - this presentation will provide ways that advisors can deliver more value to their clients in this ever changing investment management services.  As investment management becomes a commodity, advisors will learn how to differentiate themselves by understanding the current market demographics, taxation rules and regulations, estate planning and tax practices.

During this two hour session you will learn:

  1. In a marketplace with many choices, there will be increasing pressure on fees and compensation. At the same time technology and innovation from robo-advisors offers low-cost investment management services.  As investment management becomes a commodity, advisors will learn how to differentiate themselves with knowledge, serve clients on a more holistic level and show their value and financial expertise.
  2. Providing asset allocation and investment management on a fee basis creates no value for clients.  The management itself can easily be replaced by low cost providers.  In the future, advisors will need to create more value for their clients.  This presentation will present ways that advisors can create new services to deliver this value consistently.
  3. We will examine some in detail the alternative services that advisers can provide to their client base.  Advisors will be taught how they can integrate these services in their practice to add value and differentiate themselves.
